ZFCT is the quasi-judicial body which operates under the Ministry responsible for Trade, which assumes a supervisory role over the Tribunal, obviously administrative governance of the tribunal simplifies the implementation of hearing and determining appeals emanating from order and decisions from the Fair Competition Commission and other regulatory authorities which help the ZFCT to ensure accountability and improve performance according to its vision and mission. The organizational structure of the ZFCT is as follows:

Tribunal

The Tribunal is constituted by the Chairman appointed by the President of Zanzibar and four other members appointed by the Minister responsible for Trade.

The chairperson specified under section 26 (2)(a) of the Zanzibar Fair Competition and Consumer Protection, Act No. 5 of 2018. And Four other members who are appointed by the Minister based on gender.

The Members are appointed by Hon. Minister of Trade, the selection of members under subsection (2)(a) of this section, the Minister will appoint people with education and experience in the field of law, economics, business, finance and other related fields from the public and private sectors.

The Members of the Tribunal, except the Chairman, shall serve for a period of three years and may be   reappointed for one more period. 

The administrative duties of the Tribunal are carried out by the Registrar the is appointed by Hon. Minister of Trade. Registrar will perform all his administrative tasks of the Tribunal as specified under this Law and its regulations, assisted by other employees at various levels including heads of Departments, Units, Divisions and Officers.
